Terms of Service

Last updated June 2026

By using Snugtab, you agree to these terms. They are written to be clear and fair — please read them.

1. Using Snugtab

Snugtab lets you track personal and shared expenses — logging entries, categorising them, setting budgets, scheduling and recurring entries, splitting shared bills, settling debts, scanning receipts with AI, keeping notes, chatting with ledger members, viewing an activity feed, and exporting your data. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter.

2. Your account

Provide accurate information when you sign up and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account, and for the members you invite to any ledger you own.

3. Encryption & your password

Snugtab can encrypt individual entries using a key derived from your password. We never store that password or the derived key, which means we cannot recover encrypted entries on your behalf. If you reset your password, entries encrypted under the old one can no longer be decrypted.

4. AI features

Snugtab uses AI to parse natural-language expense entries and extract data from receipt images. When you use these features, the text or image you provide is sent to our AI provider solely to generate a structured result. We do not use your content to train models. AI-generated results may occasionally be inaccurate — always review parsed entries before saving.

5. Acceptable use

You may use Snugtab only for its intended purpose — tracking and splitting personal or shared expenses. You must not: (a) use the service for any unlawful purpose; (b) reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, scrape, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, algorithms, or design of Snugtab; (c) copy, replicate, or use Snugtab's interface, features, or user experience as the basis for a competing product or service; (d) access data belonging to ledgers you are not a member of; (e) probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the service; (f) introduce malware, spam, or automated bots; or (g) resell or sublicense access to the service. Violation of these rules may result in immediate account termination.

6. Beta service

Snugtab is currently in beta. Features may be added, changed, or removed at any time without notice. The service is provided for testing and feedback purposes. We make no guarantees about uptime, data retention, or feature continuity during this period. Your feedback helps us improve — and we genuinely appreciate it.

7. Account termination

You may delete your account at any time from your settings page, which permanently removes your data. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in abusive behaviour, or pose a risk to other users or the integrity of the service — without prior notice where necessary to protect the platform.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising from your use of Snugtab will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in India. If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect.

9. Ledger chat & member content

A ledger may include a chat where members post messages and mention one another. Messages are visible to every current member of that ledger and are stored on our systems. You are solely responsible for what you post and must not send content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, threatening, fraudulent, infringing, or otherwise objectionable. The ledger owner and the message author can remove messages; any member can report a message for review; and we may remove content or restrict accounts that breach these terms. You grant other members of your ledger the right to view messages you post there.

10. Content & ownership

Your data remains yours — edit, export, or delete it at any time. The Snugtab name, logo, and software are protected by intellectual-property rights and remain the property of Snugtab.

11. Availability & liability

We work to keep Snugtab reliable but provide it on an "as is" basis without warranties. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or incidental damages arising from use of the service.

12. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. We will note the date of the last update at the top of this page.
