AI receipt scanner
Scan any receipt, log it in seconds with AI
Point your camera at a receipt — or drop a photo or PDF — and Snugtab’s AI reads every line item, merchant and date, then creates a clean, categorised expense. No typing. The image is discarded by default; you decide if it’s kept.
AI reads it all
Merchant, date, tax, total and every individual line item — extracted in seconds from a phone photo.
Line-by-line capture
Not just the total. Each item is captured so you can split a shop or categorise precisely.
Photos, PDFs & screenshots
Scan a paper bill, a PDF invoice, or a UPI payment screenshot — the AI handles all of them.
Private by default
The image is processed and discarded — never used for training. Keep a specific receipt only if you opt in.
Split as you scan
On a shared ledger, a scanned expense is attributed and split across the group automatically.
Free to start
AI scanning is included free with a monthly token allowance — no card needed to try it.

Questions, answered
How does the AI receipt scanner work?
You take a photo of a receipt (or upload a PDF/screenshot) and an AI vision model reads it — extracting the merchant, date, tax, total and every line item — then creates a categorised expense automatically, no manual typing.
Is the AI receipt scanner free?
Yes. AI receipt scanning is included on the free plan with a monthly token allowance (1 token = 1 scan). Paid plans and token top-ups add more, launching soon.
Can it scan PDFs and payment screenshots?
Yes — it reads paper receipts from a photo, PDF invoices, and UPI/card payment screenshots. Blurry, angled phone photos work too.
What happens to my receipt image?
By default the image is processed in memory and immediately discarded — never stored, never used to train AI. If you want to keep a specific receipt (for a warranty or reimbursement), there’s a clearly-marked opt-in.
Is it like using ChatGPT to scan a receipt?
Same idea — an AI reads the receipt — but purpose-built for expenses: it captures line items, categorises them, splits across a group, and logs them to your ledger, instead of just returning text.
Does it capture individual line items or just the total?
Every individual line item, not just the grand total — so you can split a grocery shop between people or see exactly what you spent by category.
