How Snugtab's AI tokens work

One token, one AI action

Everything you do by hand in Snugtab is free and unlimited: adding expenses, splitting them, budgets, charts, settling up. The AI features are the part that costs us real money every time they run, so they use tokens. The rule is short: one successful AI action costs one token.

• --Receipt or bill scan. Photograph or upload a receipt, PDF or spreadsheet and Snugtab reads the line items. One token per file. (How AI receipt scanning works.)
• --AI quick-add. Type “dinner 1,200, I paid 800 and Aman 400” and it becomes an editable draft. One token.
• --AI ledger summary. A written recap of a ledger's month and lifetime spending. One token, including the monthly recap email if you switch it on.
• --Assistant answer. When you're signed in, each answer from the Snugtab assistant uses one token.

What each plan includes

As of October 2026, here is the full rate card. Prices include GST. The pricing page always shows the live allowances, read straight from the same setting the app uses to count your tokens.

• --Free · ₹0. 10 AI tokens a month, unlimited manual expenses and splits, one ledger, and scanning up to 3 files at once. No card, no time limit.
• --Pro · ₹199 a month or ₹1,990 a year. 60 AI tokens a month, batch-scan up to 10 files, trip mode, advanced reports and scheduled exports.
• --Max · ₹499 a month or ₹4,990 a year. 150 AI tokens a month, batch-scan up to 25 files, end-to-end encrypted private entries and priority support.
• --Top-ups, on any plan. 25 tokens for ₹129, 75 for ₹349 or 200 for ₹899. Bought tokens never expire and are used after your monthly allowance.

The rules that keep it fair

• --Failed attempts are free. If a scan can't read a receipt or the AI hits an error, the token comes straight back.
• --Tokens are yours, not a ledger's. You have one allowance whichever ledger you're in, and it's the same on the website, the installed web app, the mobile app and WhatsApp.
• --Nothing is charged twice. A token is taken the moment an AI action starts, so tapping twice or scanning from two devices at once can't spend more than you have.
• --The allowance resets on the 1st. Unused monthly tokens don't carry over. Bought top-up tokens do.

Why we didn't promise unlimited AI

Every scan and every answer is a paid call to a large AI model. Apps that advertise “unlimited AI” either quietly throttle you, show you ads, or make money from your data. We would rather give you a number we can actually keep. The allowances on our pricing page are read from the same setting the app uses to count your tokens, so the promise and the product can't drift apart.

For most households, the free 10 tokens cover the receipts worth scanning in a month, since quick everyday entries are faster to type anyway. If you scan every grocery bill or lean on the assistant, Pro is built for that.
